Episode 8 – Dranky Dranks

18 December 2009 in Food and Snacks

Ben and Josh taste test a few electrolyte drinks. Instead of Pedialyte, why not get something that tastes good? We’re on the quest to find a good tasting, low sugar, electrolyte drink!

Did you know….

  • “It’s not pronounced goo, it’s pronounced gee-you.” – Ben
  • “This ain’t kool-aid folks.  If you want kool-aid, get kool-aid.” – Ben
  • “When they get off work from designing and engineering electrolyte drinks, they play competitive adult softball with each other.” – Josh

Thanks so much for watching!

Gentlemen – I think it's a great idea to do a comparison of electrolyte-replacement drinks. I have been using Vitalyte (fruit punch flavor) for 30 years (from back when it was still called “Gookinaid”), on the trail and at the gym, and to me the true test of a product in this category is how it works in/for your body. I think the flavor of Vitalyte is okay, but I find I have much less muscle soreness from my workouts and better performance on the trail, even (or especially) at higher elevations, than when I drink just water. And Vitalyte is very reasonably priced. I agree about the inconvenient packaging, but there are ways to work around that.

Pete – Real good call. You're absolutely right, the most important aspect
