Kelty LumaPivot LED Lantern Review – Episode 221

20 July 2011 in Flashlights and Lanterns

The Kelty LumaPivot LED Lantern is a first for us.  A “direct-pivot panel light” with 2 independent panels, each featuring 15 LED’s.  With max output of 110 lumens, this lantern gets the job done.  It’s very versatile and sure to be the envy of your campsite.  Check out the review, and stop by Kelty.com for more.

As always, nice work gents. This is a very versatile light to have around camp or even your home (working on the car?). Just got back from a trip using this light and the results were awesome! The LumaPivot gives you the unique ability to direct light exactly where you need it, which comes in handy during meal prep after dark, at the camp sink or in the tent. Josh mentioned some sort of hook on the handle would be an improvement and I agree, but in the meantime a simple carabiner on the handle allowed me to hang it in the tent. Perhaps Kelty could just include a carabiner? The LumaPivot packs well in approximately half the space of a traditionally shaped lantern and is not heavy or bulky. It also looks cool and has the potential to up your campsite-cred with the buddies (or maybe even the ladies) which is a definite win!

Thanks man. Great point about the carabiner being used in lieu of a clip,
perfect solution! Also thanks for mentioning how portable and non-bulky it
is, great feature that we may have missed.

Thanks for another good review. I think this is going on my “Gear To Get” list. I also think it would be good to keep a couple of these at home for power outage times. Ben, I believe the people that like to camp and club are called “roving ravers” or “R.R.s” or R2s for short. :-D

These video reviews are so incredibly helpful. I think I’m going to pick up this light. I am a rafting guide in Colorado and always looking for new gear to bring on our multi-day trips.
