Thanks for reviewing ENO’s hammock. The first of this year I purchased a Hennessy Hammock. My wife thinks I was nuts for spending so much on “just a hammock.” Your review and video confirmed that I made the correct choice. Even if you don’t review a Hennessy Hammock you should them them out at http://hennessyhammock.com/ and on YouTube. RVOps has several good ones.

I purchased ENO Doublenest, bug net, and slap straps from
REI.  I did not pay near what you
did.  Just wait until they go on sale and
get individually.  I used a better tarp
than what you reviewed which has better coverage and tie down support.  A storage bag is sewn onto both the Doublenest
and bug net.  With minimal practice, they
fit in just fine.  Best approach is to
hold each end together, fold in half again, repeat…fold into bag.  Leave ends at top so quick connection to slap
straps can be done.  Once again, practice
setup before going out.  Find out what
    works best for you.

A huge hint is to stretch the hammock as tight as you
can.  Plus, the slap straps will stretch
as well.  So, if you are unfortunate enough
to actually hang the hammock 18 inches above the ground, you will be sleeping
on the ground in the morning.  My slap
straps are still stretching a tiny bit after using them several times.  Just over waist high is where I like my
height (3 to 4 feet off ground).

Another huge tip you forgot to mention is a ground pad.  Unless you are in a very hot climate, an
    insulator is absolutely required.  Make
sure the barrier is beyond shoulder width.
Otherwise your sides will get chilled.
    Sleep good, not cold.

I gave up my ultra-light tent for the hammock
configuration.  The only knock I have to
comment on about the bug net system is the end points.  The net does not completely seal you from the
insects when your slap straps stretch, which forms gaps at each end.  Now that the slap straps are not stretching
as much, the gap is also getting smaller and smaller.

Wow, great stuff Steve. Thanks a ton for the input. I hear you on the stuff sack…I’m just too impatient for all that careful folding!

Great review of the ENO Onelink Hammock System.  I recently purchased this system separately with the Doublenest, Guardian Bug Net and Dry Fly and tried it out on an overnight.  I must say that it was really comfortable sleeping in a hammock.  The Doublenest is really spacious for a single person and one could wrap themselves completely with the hammock.  The Guardian Bug Net did it’s job, however you would need to pay attention to the ends because they tend to come apart once you sit down on the hammock.  Can be fixed though.   Didn’t sleep with the tarp until early in the morning when it started to rain on us.  Did it’s job fine.  The attached storage bag was nice, as I put an iPod and a couple of other things in there.  Very handy.  The system set up is easy and relatively quick.  Didn’t buy the Slap Straps though.  I used some small diameter rope that I had (2 15 ft. sections) and girth hitched it to the tree and then tied an in line 8 for a loop and secured the hammock that way.  Using the small diameter rope I could put the loops wherever I needed them to be.  Worked great.
